Summit Racing Series Points Program 

Points will be awarded during NHRA Summit Racing Series  races only. 12 races for all classes except ET Motorcycle are offered in 2023. All classes except ET Motorcycle will keep their best 8 races of the 12 offered. ET Motorcycle has 7 races offered and will keep their best 5 . Please see ET Motorcycle details.

The Summit Racing Series points program for Mid America Dragway includes Super Pro  , Pro ET  , Sportsman , and Jr’s  Minor and Jrs Major , ET Motorcycle . These classes will be contested in accordance with the NHRA Summit Racing Series  program . 

 Dates are : March 25 & 26 , May 20 & 21, June 3 & 4 , June 17 & 18 , July 8 & 9 , July 22 & 23

 

To be eligible for ET Bracket finals you must join the points program . Registration forms can be found online or at the track .

 Benefits of becoming a Mid America Dragway Registered Points Racer 

  • Earn points towards Mid America Dragway season championship.Points are awarded to registered racers only for the Summit Racing Series races.
  • Potential to earn a spot on the Mid America Dragway NHRA  Division 5 Summit E.T. Bracket finals team.
  • End of the year Awards & Prizes
  • The NHRA Rules for ET bracket finals team roster will be followed . 

Summit Racing Series Points Races    

All NHRA Rules apply in addition to any specific rules listed here  for the Summit Racing Series for Mid America Dragway. 

No buybacks for any class with 6 cars or less.* Payout will be reduced to Winner and R/U only if there is 8 cars or less in the class.* Class must have 3 cars or more to be contested .* 

* Exception to these rules is Jr Street and Jr Dragsters 

        

Tech Card Pricing 

All tech card pricing includes car and driver per race: 

  • Super Pro       $100  BuyBack $50
  • Pro                     $80    Buyback $40
  • Sportsman      $50     BuyBack $25
  • ET Motorcycle   $60    BuyBack $40
  • Jr. Dragster  Majors 10.49 and quicker    $40      BuyBack $20
  • Jr Dragster  Minors 10.50 or slower & must be age 9 or younger  $30   BuyBack $15
  • To qualify for bonuses , Wally Trophy or NHRA contingencies you must be a current NHRA member 

 Super Pro Class

  • ⅛ mile
  • ET Break 4.00- 7.75
  • Designated as “electronics permitted” E.T. handicapped classes.
  • Computer, delay boxes, trans brake, line lock, automatic shifter, shift timer, starting line and or “high side” rev limiters permitted,Data recorders allowed. Stutter boxes prohibited.
  • Acutime Crosstalk Tree will be active.  
  • Delay box may only display delay amount dialed in; analog or digital display permitted. 
  • Inspectors must be able to identify all direct wiring clearly.

 Pro ET Class

  • ⅛ mile
  • ET Break  5.30 – 9.00
  • Designated as  no “electronics permitted” E.T. handicapped classes. 
  • Computer, unless OEM stock, and Stutter boxes – PROHIBITED
  • Trans brake, line lock, automatic shifter, starting line and or “high side” rev limiters permitted.

Sportsman Class 1/4  mile 

  • ET Break 11.50 & Slower    
  • Designated as “electronic prohibited” E.T. handicapped classes
  • Permitted are Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) computer
  • Data recorders, delay boxes, trans brakes, automated shifter (unless OEM), throttle stops and stutter boxes are prohibited. Two wheel line locks are permitted on non drive wheels only . Single stage high side rev limiter permitted.  Starting line rev limiter prohibited.Must not effect down track RPM in any way. Crank trigger is prohibited unless OEM distributorless ignition. Slicks are permitted and mufflers are optional.

Jr. Dragster 

  • Racers age 5-18 years only . With the exception of the Trainee class Mid America  Dragway will combine combine jr dragster classes as follows :
    • Minors ET Break 10.50 and slower  This class is reserved for ages 9 and younger 
    • Majors ET Break  10.49 and quicker  
  • Trainee  age 5  restricted to 20 seconds and slower . Non competition single passes only 
  • Drivers must follow the specific  NHRA rules for their age  when selecting their dial in . 
  • Non-compliance of rules will follow the consequences per the 2023 NHRA  Rulebook.
  • Classes will be paired by card draw . 
  • All other Mid America Dragway handbook rules apply

High School Class 

  • 1/4 Mile 12.00-24.99
  • High School Class is contested as a trophy class . Trophy for Winner and R/U
  • Same rules as Sportsman with following exceptions:
    •  All competitors must have attended high school during the 2023-2024 school year
    •  Must be full size passenger style vehicle (no MC, ATV, etc.)
    •  Nitrous Oxide prohibited

JR Street 

  • Ages 13-16 
  • ⅛ mile  9.00 and slower 
  • Jr Street is contested as a trophy class. Trophy for winner and R/U
  • Acceptable vehicles are full bodied cars, trucks , vans or SUV’s
  • All vehicles must be street legal and driven through the gate 
  • Vehicles must also have the correct state issued license plate (dealer tags, paper tags, temporary tags, etc. prohibited), a valid state vehicle registration, a valid state inspection (if required),and proof of current insurance. Vehicles must be able to pass all state highway safety requirements for the state in which the vehicle is registered
  • Prohibited : 
    • Race cars & motorcycles
    • Wheel tubs , cars that are back halved, slicks

Rainout Policy Summit Racing Series 

Summit Racing Series Points Races

  • If rain or other occurrences halt racing during a points race  and racing cannot continue then the last completed round of eliminations  per class will be used for payout and points purposes.
  • In both of these cases the event will be considered completed.  

Points will be awarded as follows ;

  • Daily Showup points – 5 points  . Must stage your car first round to receive these points
  • Each round win starting with 1st round  = 2 points 
  • Winner of the class will receive 3 bonus points 
  • R/U of the class will  2  bonus point 
  • If you lose the first round , buyback and win round 2 n d round,then starting with round 2 you will receive 1 point per round . 
  • If you win the race and you bought back you are not eligible for the bonus points for winner or r/u 
  • Show up points are not removed from your total for the 4 races that are dropped.( or the 2 races for motorcycles)
